In this week’s President’s message I am focusing on one of the great aspects of being a Rotarian: the ability of the individual to accomplish great things that would be very difficult — if not impossible to accomplish — without the resources of Rotary and the commitment of dedicated Rotarians to improve their world.
I can condense this thought in the following quote from a fellow Rotarian that I read in this month’s Rotarian magazine: “I joined Rotary for business and fellowship, I stayed to change the world.”
What prompted this line of thinking was a notice in last week’s District newsletter advising us of the death of Montebello Rotarian George R. Hensel on January 9, 2012. George was 87 years old at the time of his death, so he certainly lived a full life. But why George ...
